Upcoming Show:
’Dark Skies Durango’
The Recess Gallery at Studio &
Opening in Durango, CO, June 5th, 2026 5-8pm
The stars have long been a canvas for human imagination, where beasts and heroes of myth chase each other from horizon to horizon. Constellations have guided us across uncharted waters and told our stories throughout history. Today, they still reflect our own need for relevancy and offer a sense of permanence. These needlefelted wool sculptures represent some of the familiar shapes that we have peered into the darkness for thousands of years to see.
This series is a celebration of one of Durango's most precious resources: our clear night sky. Durango is in the process of becoming certified as a 'Dark Sky Community,' joining a growing movement to protect our night skies from light pollution. Such efforts have positive effects on human circadian rhythms, wildlife habits, night visibility, energy costs, and tourism. Connecting with the cosmos is a natural right that humans around the world deserve access to.
